Highlights

 

  • Millennium Gallery - With arts, crafts and design displays, the heritage of Sheffield is here for all to see. In particular the metalwork that the city is famous for features heavily in a number of exhibitions. In addition touring exhibitions often visit from far afield such as the Tate and the V&A. Open all year except the Christmas break. Monday to Saturday 10am - 4pm. Free entry.

 

  • Winter Garden - Award winning garden set inside one of the largest temperate glasshouses in the UK. More than 2,500 plants on display in the heart of the city. Spans 70m long and 22m high and could house as many as 5,000 domestic plants. A coffee shop and gallery is also available for visitors. Open from 8am to 6pm everyday except Christmas day. Free entry.

 

  • The Moor Market - Opened in 2013, this market houses almost 200 stalls with a huge range of wares including organic food, jewellry and clothing. Food stalls and cafes offer food from around the globe. The perfect stopping point for a wet afternoon of shopping. Open Monday to Saturday 8.30am - 5.30pm. Free entry.

 

  • Chatsworth House - The home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and in the Derbyshire Peak District National Park. This 1000 acre park offer a farm shop, playground and drinks bar and restaurant as well as tours of the house. The park is open all year while the house is open 11am to 5.30pm daily.

 

  • Peak District National Park - With Sheffield being right on the edge of this national park it is well placed to be a base for exploring. With a number of smaller villages and hamlets, there is plenty to do and see. Perfect for train travel to avoid having to drive. Open every day , all year round.

Sheffield is perfect stopping off point for visitors to the Peak District National Park and offers a variety of fun and exciting attractions to keep all visitors busy. These include outdoor activities such as walks and cycle tours as well as indoor stately homes and an abundance of museums and cultural highlights.

 

The city is known for its outdoor scenery and parks and is a great place to visit on foot. Shoppers also have a number of delights awaiting them including famous markets and the usual high street shops.
